When it’s Time to Fire Your Website Designer!

Just recently, three of my business coaching clients has delayed firing their website designers. What a mess! Money and time down the drain. Don’t put the success of your business in your website designer’s hands.

Here are some Signs it’s Time to Fire Your Website Designer…

  • Your Website Designer doesn’t do what they say they will when they said they would.
  • Misunderstandings are common.
  • You put your business on hold waiting for them.
  • You are afraid how he/she will react to your requests.
  • They talk down to you.
  • They get an attitude if you give them monthly additions or changes.
  • They have a glazed look when you ask them about meta tags or SEO.
  • They don’t give you options when they can’t do what you want.
  • They always have excuses.
  • Your website is not picked up by the search engines.
  • They don’t return your e-mails or phone calls in a timely fashion.

If you even have ONE of these signs, seriously look at firing your website designer. I learned years ago that a big reason entrepreneurs fail is because, “They hire too fast and fire too slow.”

I’m lucky. For over ten years, I have had a great website designer, Dave Stott at www.Internet6.com. See the previous blog for more information on hiring website designers.

I am one of the clients Vickie referred to, who fired my website designer. In his place, I hired Dave Stott, who has been absolutely wonderful. For everything my old website designer left me disappointed with, Dave has surprised and delighted me. He returns my emails promptly, gives me quotes of how much everything will cost up front – and sticks to them. He listens carefully to my ideas (many of which have been somewhat half baked) and asks questions to clarify what I really want. He makes suggestions based on his knowledge of what he knows will work, but is not attached to them. I have confidence that what Dave wants is for me to be happy and successful and I have the utmost confidence and faith in him. He just set up a blog for me, generously exercising both patience and support – which helped me step into new territory that I was somewhat nervous about. I highly recommend him. And Vickie could not be more spot on about how important it is to fire your web designer when he or she is not performing. I should have done it six to nine months ago. Thanks Vickie!

I am so lucky to have found SAM at transNETmedia.com to design my Website. Not one of those “signs” apply to her. She creates a Website to use as a tool to enhance your business, to build your brand. But she goes “beyond the look” to ensure the necessary functionality to lead visitors through your Website — and keep them there. SAM has an Masters of Fine Art to complement her technical expertise — how many Web designers have that exquisite combination?
