Benefits of Ignoring Your Intuition

Are you one of those who want to be right at all costs? Maybe you get your thrills from always having problems to deal with. Or perhaps you think all this woo-woo is nonsense? Then I don’t need to tell you the benefits of ignoring your intuition or gut instincts. You probably think this list is NORMAL and the way LIFE IS. I know — I use to be you.

This blog is for those of you exploring other ways to live, like I did several years ago.

Here Are Some Benefits of Ignoring Your Intuition:

You…

  • Need not worry about how to fill your time because you stay so unbelievably busy struggling to accomplish everything.
  • Get lots of alone time because you are unpleasant to be around.
  • Live a life full of adrenaline rushes because things with you are a matter of life or death.
  • Don’t have to take responsibility for anything because you can find someone or something to blame for the situation.
  • Don’t have to waste time and money pursuing your dreams because you don’t know what they are.
  • Get your exercise by tossing and turning in bed at night.
  • Connect with others by getting them to take your side.
  • Can hold onto addictions and bad habits as an excuse to relieve stress.
  • Inflate your self-esteem by constantly one upping everyone else.
  • Have a good reason to spend hours on end on Facebook, in front of the TV, or tweeting every move you make.
  • Get plenty of attention by focusing the conversations on your problems.
  • Earn your reputation for being a very disciplined person by forcing yourself to do things you hate to do.
  • Save lots of energy, money and time because you are afraid of change.

If you identify with some of these points, know that there is an easier, more successful way to live if you choose. Trusting your intuition or gut instincts can free you from the unnecessary hardships, struggle, and give you the knowledge that nothing is impossible.

Benefits of Using Your Intuition

Do you wake up in the morning feeling secure, confident and excited about all the good experiences the day will bring? Are you watching yourself become a better person every day? If so, you must be using your intuition.

Intuition is described as a knowing, a feeling, an inner voice, an awareness, a hunch, a gut instinct or a sense.

Here are Some of the Benefits of Using Your Intuition:

When we use our intuition…

  • We don’t need to make sacrifices to solve a problem.
  • Stress, anger, and resentment disappear.
  • Obstacles fade away and we get in the zone.
  • Everyone wins, no one loses in the situation.
  • There is no fear, and we feel safe.
  • We feel capable of handling whatever happens.
  • Conflict with others vanishes.
  • We can easily tell when someone is and isn’t telling the truth.
  • We feel peaceful and relaxed.
  • We build our self-esteem by leaps and bounds.
  • We are no longer afraid of change.
  • Having regrets stop.
  • We don’t let the drama consume us.
  • Guilt placed on anyone melts away.
  • We are happier.

I don’t think we realize the power we can have when we not only recognize our intuition, but use it in every area of our lives. As a life coach, I’ve seen actual miracles and I’ve been inspired time and again by clients who have overcome horrific life challenges simply by using their intuition.

How to Feel Safe in These Crazy Times

It seems like the world is getting a little crazier. There are natural disasters from earthquakes to volcano eruptions, angry political rallying and celebrity affairs that get weirder with every news report.

Trust your Intuition
One of the ways to start feeling safer is to stop putting all our faith in the experts, government, laws, and anyone or anything out there that is promising us security. Instead, let’s start trusting our gut instincts. You know, that silent voice or knowing inside that can quell our fears, pull us out of any jam in an instant, and solve any situation without hurting any one. I call it my intuition.

How do we do that?
Easy for you, you might say. But how do we listen to our intuition?

Here are Five Easy Steps:

1 Have a Willingness-
The most important requirement in listening to our intuition is the          willingness to hear the answer.

2 Get to Neutral-
If we get our past experiences, our judgments, and what we think is  right and wrong out of our way, we can observe and pay attention to our intuition.

3 Ask the Question-
We will not hear our intuitive answers until we ask. And if we ask, we will receive.

4 Acknowledge the Answer-
There are lots of ways to get answers. Visions, in our dreams or as a feeling in the pit of our stomach, just to name a few.

5 Accept the Answer that is Given and Follow it-
This is the step we usually don’t do. Have you ever found yourself saying, “I knew it, I just didn’t do it.” It’s important to honor our intuition and not judge it.

Shutting out our own internal chatter and the barrage of crazy chatter in the world to hear out intuition can take practice. Begin simply by asking questions and seeing what you hear, feel or see. Later, check back with yourself to see if the advice you were given turned out to be true and beneficial. Soon enough, you’ll distinguish your inner knowing voice from the rest.

Signs We Are Feeling Unsafe!

It seems to me that we are in the middle of some crazy times and many of us are feeling unsafe and insecure. We feel unsafe about the government, the economy, global warming, our job, our career, our finances, the future, or just about anything else we can think of.

Signs We Are Feeling Unsafe:

We start…

  • Worrying when something changes.
  • Judging others.
  • Complaining often.
  • Using food, smoking, pills or alcohol or anything else to relieve our stress.
  • Feeling hopeless and doomed to fail.
  • Failing to appreciate anything right in our lives.
  • Taking sides.
  • Being easily deceived by others.
  • Ignoring our intuition.
  • Getting angry with what’s happening or who is causing it.
  • Having confrontations with others.
  • Becoming defensive.
  • Turning into someone unpleasant to be around.

Feeling unsafe can easily lead to anger. Anger can easily lead to hate. Hate can easily lead to sacrifice. And sacrifice can easily lead to suffering. To put it bluntly, feeling unsafe can bring about the very things we fear.

Why Women Have a Hard time Meditating

I had a discussion last week with my editor, Sonja Haller, and we got onto the subject that was interesting to me since most of my business and life coaching clients are women. We came to the conclusion that women often give up on meditating before they begin. Sonja just wrote a blog on “Why Women Can’t Meditate” and I want to share a couple of her thoughts.

Women feel…

  • Guilty when they take time to do nothing. And meditation — at least at first — feels like doing nothing.
  • Uncomfortable when they’re not multitasking. They’ve been doing it their whole lives. If they could meditate and fold laundry, they would be pros. But the single purpose of witnessing their breath proves difficult.
  • Anything less than perfection is unacceptable. Meditation is a practice and it needs to be practiced. But there is no such thing as perfection.
